Hormone Replacement Therapy

A Personalized Approach to Feeling Like Yourself Again

Hormonal changes are a natural part of life, but that doesn’t mean you have to simply accept feeling unlike yourself.

For many women, changes in estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone can affect far more than menstrual cycles. Women may experience hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, brain fog, mood changes, decreased libido, vaginal dryness, fatigue, changes in body composition, or difficulty maintaining the same energy and strength they once had.

At The The WELL Integrative Health, I take a personalized approach to hormone health and hormone replacement therapy (HRT). My goal is not simply to look at a lab value and prescribe a medication. I want to understand the whole picture—including your symptoms, health history, goals, lifestyle, and laboratory findings—to determine whether hormone therapy may be appropriate for you.

What is hormone replacement therapy?

Hormone replacement therapy involves replacing hormones that the body is no longer producing at previous levels. Depending on the individual, treatment may include estrogen, progesterone, and/or testosterone.

There are several ways hormones can be administered, including transdermal patches, creams, and other formulations. The appropriate option depends on your individual circumstances and should be determined through a personalized medical evaluation.

Potential benefits of HRT

When appropriately prescribed and monitored, HRT may help alleviate many symptoms associated with hormonal changes. Depending on the individual, potential benefits may include:

  • Reduced hot flashes and night sweats

  • Improved sleep

  • Relief from vaginal and genitourinary symptoms

  • Improved sexual function and libido

  • Improved mood and sense of well-being

  • Reduction in some menopause-related symptoms

  • Support for maintaining bone health

  • Potential improvements in body composition and muscle preservation when combined with appropriate nutrition and strength training

Importantly, HRT isn’t appropriate for everyone. Hormone therapy requires a careful review of your medical history, risk factors, medications, symptoms, and goals. There are also different forms, doses, and routes of administration, and these differences matter.

My approach to hormone optimization

One of the things that sets my approach apart is that I don’t believe women should be reduced to a single number on a laboratory report.

Your symptoms matter.

Your history matters.

Your goals matter.

Your laboratory data matters.

At The WELL, I combine conventional medical knowledge with an integrative approach to evaluate the bigger picture. I use bloodwork when appropriate and look at hormone levels alongside other relevant health markers rather than treating laboratory values in isolation.

We also discuss your individual symptoms and concerns, including menstrual history, menopause symptoms, sleep, energy, libido, body composition, and overall quality of life.

Hormone therapy is not about making your hormones “perfect.” It is about determining whether treatment may be appropriate for you and, if so, developing a thoughtful plan that is individualized and monitored over time.

You don’t have to normalize feeling terrible

Women are often told that fatigue, poor sleep, weight changes, low libido, brain fog, and mood changes are simply part of getting older.

While hormonal changes are normal, struggling with symptoms does not mean you have to ignore them.

If you’re wondering whether changing hormone levels could be contributing to how you’re feeling, a comprehensive hormone consultation can help you better understand what is happening and what options may be available.

At The WELL Integrative Health, my goal is to help women feel informed, heard, and supported as they navigate hormonal changes—not simply to treat a lab result.
